CEO & Founder
After a successful career in brand management at Kraft, Scott began his franchising career in 1991 in the restaurant industry. As head of global development, Scott re-created a more efficient and cost effective operating system and built the second largest sandwich chain from 18 to over 1000 restaurants in over 10 countries. Since then, Scott has been a franchisee, Area Developer, Master franchisee, and/or franchisor of eight additional brands in the quick service, fast casual restaurant, and most recently developed 10 massage franchises in two states. In early 2015 Scott was introduced to the world of floating. After his first float, Scott realized that floating would be the “next big thing” in the wellness category. Over the next two years Scott attended two international float conferences, travelled the globe in search of the right floatation methods and technologies, and most importantly, assembled a great experienced team to build Indigo Float into the leading premium float franchise in the world!
Vice President of Development
Mark first learned about sensory deprivation/floatation while studying philosophy and psychology at Loyola University in the 1980’s. Intrigued by the application, he wanted to try floating but was unable to find anywhere nearby that offered it. Mark finally had the chance to float in 2013 and was enthralled by the experience.
Since then Mark has immersed himself in the world of floatation, opening his first float center with his wife Laurie in 2014 (the first to be approved by the State of Florida) and has worked with dozens of floatation tank manufacturers around the world, brokering and installing floatation pods and helping others successfully open floatation centers in North America.
Vice President of Operations and Training
After serving 4 years in the USAF during the Gulf War, Laurie started her next career as educator in Central Florida. While working a full-time job and caring for a family of five, she had an idea for a local gourmet to go café that helped working professionals feed their families with whole foods prepared from scratch. She focused on delivering high quality products, excellent customer service, and quality experiences. She enjoyed managing the workflow, special projects, and employee training in both the restaurant and catering business.
Jump forward to 2013, Laurie has sold the café and catering business, and is seeking her next endeavor. She wanted to apply her successful business experience to a health and wellness concept that provides an alternative to pharmaceuticals with low overhead, labor costs, and carbon foot print. Having experienced floating for the first time, Laurie knew this was the perfect fit, and East Coast Floats was born on the back of a napkin at her favorite pizzeria.
With much effort and collaboration, East Coast Floats became the first float center approved by the Florida Dept of Health and continues to be an industry leader in the float community. The business naturally expanded to consulting, float center training and pod sales. Since 2014, Laurie and her husband, Mark, have helped several float centers open successfully across the country while successfully building their own business through effective marketing and training programs.
